FAQ

Q: When and why did you start Dear Serendipity?

A: October of 2011. I was searching for a place I could share my aesthetic with the world, and Pinterest just wasn't doing it for me.

Q: What do you do for a living?

A: I work for ThirdLove - most of my job revolves around social media, blogging and working with influencers! I also work on Dear Serendipity on nights and weekends.

Q: What are some of your favorite places to shop?

A: ShopbopEverlane, Joie, Equipment, Nordstrom, Tory Burch, Rag & Bone, J.Crew, Loeffler Randall, GAP.

Q: What are some of your favorite beauty brands?

A: Herbivore Botanicals, Glossier, Origins, Aveda, Honest.

Q: I'm visiting San Francisco. Do you have any recommendations for me?

Breakfast/Brunch: Jane on Fillmore, Rose's Cafe, Park Tavern for Sunday brunch.

Lunch: Pizzeria Delfina, Gott's at the Ferry Building, Nopalito.

Dinner: Nopa, Out the Door, A16, Aliment, Hakkasan, Wayfare Tavern, Stones Throw, Boulevard, Zuni Cafe.

Stay: The Fairmont, The Mark Hopkins, Airbnb.

Shop: Fillmore Street, Westfield/Union Square, Serena & Lily's Design Shop, Hayes Street, Chestnut Street, Union Street.

Coffee/Juice/Snacks: Wrecking Ball coffee on Union Street, Mr. Holmes Bakehouse, Blue Bottle, Pressed Juicery, Sugarfina.

Q: How would you define your style?

A: Modern, simple, functional, playful.

Q: Do you have any advice for me? I'm just starting my blog.

A: Be consistent. I see so many people who say they want to start a blog because it's "all fun and games", but treat it like a business if you want it to be one. Stay true to your voice, always ask (the worst thing they can say is no), only work with brands that you believe in and that match your style, pick the social media platforms that work for you instead of trying to do it all, prioritize great writing, not just pretty pictures and have fun!
