A Charity You Should Get Involved With: Planned Parenthood
Happy Friday, all! After this week, I can fully say with confidence: TGIF.
As promised in yesterday's blog post (which I received an outpouring of texts, emails and messages about - and I want to thank you for that) I'm going to spend the next seven days highlighting charities I believe in and you can easily get involved with, wherever you are in the country.
These charities support a range of causes, including women's health (like today's pick), climate action, sexual and domestic violence, immigrants and refugees. I hope you'll join me on this journey to become more active in our communities, let our voices be heard and channel all of this emotion we're all feeling to do some real good.
Planned Parenthood is an organization near and dear to my heart. My father was the Treasurer of Planned Parenthood when I was growing up in Phoenix, Arizona and also volunteered there for much of his life. Planned Parenthood is the nation's leading sexual and reproductive health care provider and provides essential services to women around this country including access to birth control, STD testing, pap smears, cancer screenings and much more.
How to Get Involved
There are so many different ways you can get involved with Planned Parenthood - you can sign up here to search for volunteer opportunities in your area. If you would rather donate time over money (which is great, too!) you can donate to Planned Parenthood here.
Women in this country cannot be denied access to basic healthcare, and that's what Planned Parenthood is here to do. Out of all of the causes at stake right now, this is the one I am so passionate about and will fight for relentlessly.
You can also find a full list of pro-women, pro-immigrant, pro-Earth, anti-bigotry organizations here that need your support.
