A (Long Overdue) Life Update
Oh, how I've meant to write this post for weeks. It's interesting how life finds a way of throwing you curveballs when you least expect them—and that's how the month of March has been for me.
an update on // work
Surprise: today is my last day at ThirdLove! I've learned so much over the past year and a half, but it was time for me to move on and test myself with a new adventure. More on the new role/company to come in the coming months (I'm keeping some things to myself for now), but I can say I'm SO excited for this next chapter. And, another post is currently in the works on my checklist for leaving a role—and beginning a new one—gracefully.
an update on // balance
To be honest with you, work has consumed my brain for a long while now. Being in social media / content marketing / blogging, you're on 24/7, regardless of the company you work for. I haven't had a true break since college—four years ago—and I'm looking forward to spending the entire next week doing a digital detox and preparing for my new role/company.
an update on // 2018 intentions
The first three months of 2018 have been a bit hectic, and included an unexpected job search + interviewing + job change, which took a toll on my mental health. I'm burnt out, and it shows in my (lack of) progress on my 2018 intentions.
As a refresher, here are just a few things I was hoping to improve upon this year:
- Slow Down // A few ways I planned on doing this were read more, walk more, listen to more music, turn off notifications, turn off the TV. I'm proud to say I've read a few books so far this year—Commonwealth, Big Magic, and The Art of Not Giving a Fuck. I've also listened to much more music (Billie Holiday is currently blasting on our Sonos as I type this), but I can definitely stay off my phone/TV more. Here's hoping next week's mini brain vacation builds some great digital detox habits!
- Get Out More // One of my goals for the year was to get out more and explore the city around me. Josh and I took a staycation of sorts last weekend to Berkeley, and already have a road trip planned in April for my birthday to Yountville. We've also been going out to dinner to try new restaurants once a week!
- Try New Foods // Alright, I've completely failed at this one. What can I say, I like what I like—and most of that includes the same old, same old.
