An Interview With Alex

This past week, I had the opportunity to interview a dear friend of mine, Alex Carreno, author of the lifestyle and personal blog Adored by Alex. In the past, I've worked with Alex on numerous occasions (check out our Three Bloggers series here, here and here) and I've had so much fun getting to know her even better through our blogs. Enjoy!

If you had to describe your blog in one sentence, what would that sentence be?

Adored by Alex is a lifestyle and personal style blog sharing pieces of fashion, beauty, personal inspirations and adorations.

What's your favorite part of being a fashion blogger?

The amazing and strong women I’ve had the opportunity to meet, network and become friends with has been something I will forever cherish from this opportunity.

If you could pick a favorite post that you've done, which would you pick?

Oh, that’s so tough! With three years of blogging under my belt, I don’t think I could pick just one. I’d have to say, within the last few months I’ve really grown as a blogger, with opportunities landing in my inbox that I would’ve never previously dreamt of receiving. I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and the detail and effort I’ve but in to my outfit posts within the last three months make them some of my favorites to date.

What's your favorite blog (besides yours, of course!)?

There’s no way I could tell you just one favorite! However, regular reads include The Style Scribe, Dallas Wardrobe, With Love from Kat, Pink Peonies and Brighton the Day.

What are your favorite places to shop?

Top three: J.Crew, Saks & Shopbop.

What pieces in your closet could you never live without?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have cultivated a collection of things in my closet that I could never live without. Firstly, my Christian Louboutin Simple Pumps hold a special place in my heart, as they were my first “adult” purchase with my post-college paycheck. My Burberry red quilted jacket, for the countless memories I’ve made wearing it. A pair of black satin Chanel flats gifted to me by my grandmother’s best friend. Finally, my collection of Hermés scarves, including a Twilly I purchased during my trip to Paris and a streets of Paris scarf I received from my grandmother last Christmas.

What's one beauty indulgence that you could never live without?

An eyebrow wax every three to four weeks.

What would your advice be for someone just starting out as a fashion blogger?

Follow your dreams and set goals for yourself. Something I often like to advise is in the beginning it will seem like you’re putting in more effort than the return – which you are. But the effort and persistence will pay off. Be resilient, don’t be scared to reach out to bloggers who you admire and never be weary of dreaming big… because you never know where your dreams and hard work will one day take you.
