My 5 Favorite Face Masks Right Now
I never used to be big into beauty. I always dreaded when friends dragged me to Sephora, and when people asked me what mascara I used, I had no idea ("something from the drugstore?" I used to reply.). But in recent months and years, I've become increasingly invested in skin care.
Part of that is cleansing, part of it is moisturizing, and the other big chunk is using masks. I try to use them a few times a week as part of my nighttime routine, and I've found it really helps calm my skin. Here are some of my favorites right now:
This is the only mask I've used for years because I love it so much. I love how it tightens my skin (clay masks will do that!) and how it only takes 3-5 minutes—perfect for when I don't have a ton of time to care about my skincare. Plus, it's great for sensitive skin!
This mask smells dreamy. I really like how it's a morning mask, so you can wake your skin up a bit before you head to work. Don't worry, this one also takes five minutes, so I tend to do it while I'm making my bed in the morning and pouring myself some coffee. It gives you an extra punch of hydration for mornings when you're feeling dry and dull.
I've reviewed this mask before here, but I've found it's still in constant rotation in my mask repertoire. I love that it's specifically for targeting acne, and you can use it either as a spot treatment or a 20-minute mask. You can even leave it on overnight as a spot treatment to get rid of those pesky blemishes that just won't go away.
When I first opened this mask container, I was overwhelmed by the smell of real roses. It literally smelled like a flower shop in my apartment—that's how potent it is! This mask also takes the form of a jelly, and it's cold, which can be a bit jarring your first time using it. But it's really hydrating and restorative—I always feel like I'm doing my skin some good when I use it.
I have to say, this mask is my favorite. I've never used anything that makes my skin feel visibly clearer and brighter literally immediately. Just leave it on for 10 minutes (I do mine at night time while I'm getting ready for bed) and your skin will be glowing afterward. Plus, I love the cool feeling on my skin and the cucumber scent—it makes me feel like I'm at a spa.
