Women at Work: A Day in the Life
Do you ever wonder what other people do all day? I have this thought literally all the time. Am I the only one with routines like mine, or do other people do similar things every day? To test it out, I wanted to document a day in my life and share it with you all to see how many of you can relate to what I do every day.
Follow along to see what a full day in my life looks like:
6:45 AM: wake up
I typically get up around 6:45 every day, when our alarm goes off. To be fair, we usually lay in bed for about 15 minutes before we actually make any big moves—I'm a big fan of lounging for a minute in the morning to catch my breath before I jump right into things. Once I hit that floor, it's go go go.
7 AM - 8:30 AM: get ready for the day
This hour and a half each morning is my crucial time to set my day off on the right foot. Usually, you can find me scrolling through Instagram for a bit, listening to a podcast (Pod Save America!), taking a shower, chatting with Josh about what's on deck for his day, grabbing a bite of food, and tidying up our apartment. This includes making my bed every day—yes, every day!
8:30 AM: commute life
I walk four blocks to work (I know—rough life) and it only takes me about seven minutes—10-15 if I stop to grab a coffee. I'm usually in the office by 8:45!
9 AM - 12 PM: work, work, work, work
A day in the life really never looks the same at my office—sometimes I'm in meetings on top of more meetings, sometimes I'm at events with influencers, sometimes I'm at my desk with headphones on for hours on end. Usually, I come up for air around 12 to either go grab a bite to eat with co-workers or heat up a meal I prepped at the office!
12:30 PM - 5:30 PM: back at it
My afternoon is typically full of more work, until Josh and I make plans to walk home together. We work a block away from each other and try to commute home as often as we can to regroup and catch up on each other's days. Even though this only lasts about 10 minutes, it's one of my favorite parts of our time together.
5:30 - 7 PM: prep + dinner
Josh and I cook pretty much every night—it's pretty rare that we order in or eat out. We genuinely love to cook together and I also like knowing exactly what's going into my meal, so we usually spend about an hour or two when we first get home getting comfortable, deciding on what we're going to make, and cooking dinner.
7 PM - 10 PM: netflix + chill
What fills our nights totally depends on the day—sometimes I'll have blog work to finish up, sometimes we'll have plans with friends and do our own thing, and sometimes we honestly just lay on the couch and watch TV. Whatever we're doing, these are always my happiest hours of the day: I love ending my nights at home with Josh and try to carve out this time whenever I can just for us.
10 - 10:30 PM: ready for bed
I have to admit, sometimes I dread getting ready for bed. I hate when my day has to end! Is that weird? I put it off and put it off for as long as I can like I used to when I was a little kid. But sometimes I'll try to bribe myself with a good face mask and a good book that I've been dying to read in bed. Lately, some fan favorites of mine include this face mask and Call Me By Your Name—I just finished the book (after watching the movie about 100 times) in two nights, it's that good.
