Women at Work: Organizing Your Desk for 2018

Raise your hand if you are also incredibly influenced by your surroundings? *hand raised*

I think it's part of why I'm so obsessive about how clean my apartment is or how organized my underwear drawer is: I can't stand the chaos. If my surroundings are chaotic, my mind is a mess, too. So, I'm really picky about what's on both my work and home desks—and I wanted to share some of my desk must-haves:

one // a planner and notebook

Two things I can't live without: my planner (to keep my life organized) and a notebook, for when random inspiration pops into my head. Right now I'm loving this one from Rollbahn, and the other ones below to start 2018 on the right foot:

two // a pretty candle

If you haven't yet, you have to get a candle from Boy Smells. This Prunus scent is my current fave (my mom gifted it to me for Christmas) and it's totally crazy, but I think that being in a great-smelling environment makes my creative juices flow.

three // a charging dock

I'm all about a charging station. It's how Josh and I keep our devices out of our bedroom, and it's also how I keep myself from checking my phone every two seconds while I'm trying to get work done. It's a really nice way to keep things close-by for when you need them, but just out of reach enough to focus on what you're doing.

four // saje peppermint halo

Have you ever gotten migraines or had a lack of energy midday? I've been drinking about 100 oz. of water a day which has definitely helped with my 3 PM rut each day, but this Saje Peppermint Halo is a life saver. Just rub a little on your temples, or in between your palms and breathe it in. I promise, it works!

five // books and magazines

I am a coffee table book junkie, and I always end up with a giant stack of magazines and catalogues on my desk to go through. Whenever I'm not sure what to write about, or feel like I'm in a creative rut, I just start flipping through the pages of some beautiful books or magazines to get inspired.
